  • Stephen K. Young, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Born and raised in Western New York, Dr. Young obtained his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Iowa State University in 1987. Professional interests include surgery, dentistry, diagnostic ultrasound and acupuncture.  He has owned the Animal Hospital of Willow Street since October of 2001. Dr. Young married his wife, Stephanie, in 1991 and resides in Willow Street with their youngest,  Nathaniel.  They're oldest, Allyson, began college in August 2015.  They have one dog, Cisco, and one cat, Tulip.  When not working, he enjoys training for and competing in triathlons and camping with the Boy Scouts.

  • Marc V Olson, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Born and raised in Connecticut.  He graduated from Elizabethtown College in May 1993 with a degree in biology and a minor in bio-chemistry.  Dr. Olson then graduated from  Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in June 1998.  He has practiced medicine as an associate veterinarian at the Animal Hospital of Willow Street since July 1999.  His areas of professional interest include pocket pet medicine, behavioral studies, exotic, and wildlife medicine, as well as evaluating the best companion for a family.  Dr. Olson in June 1993 married his college sweetheart, Jennifer.   They welcomed their daughter, Alexis in 2005.  They have a cat, Spike, who can be loving but also fiesty if taken out of the home. 
    Dr. Olson is very involved in many aspects of his church, including chairing the youth program and helping with many community outreach programs.  He is also the junior/senior Sunday School teacher.  When not working, he enjoys spending time with Jennifer and Alexis, as well as reading and watching movies.

  • Stephanie Young, RN

    Office Manager
    Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania,  Stephanie spent ten years living near Buffalo, New York.  While there she earned her Registered Nursing degree and worked with children with cerebral palsy.  When not at work she is a full-time mom to her son.  Her daughter started college for a nursing degree in August 2015.   She also has a dog, Cisco, and a cat, Tulip, at home.  During her down time Stephanie competes in "fun runs."   She has in the past competed in the "ING" in Philadelphia and the local "Hands-On-House" half marathons, as well as participated in the "Garden Spot Marathon" for the second time.   She has also tried her hand at triathlons such as the "Hempfield Tri for Life" and the "Got the Nerve" in Mt. Gretna. 
  • Karen Summers

    Kennel Manager
    Born and raised on a dairy farm in Oxford, Pennsylvania.  Karen attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian College in North Carolina majoring in biology.  Fresh out of school she worked in the large animal field at the New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  She worked there till her son was born and then moved to the Willow Street area.  Karen started working here as a kennel assistant in October of 2000 and now is our kennel manager.  She currently has three dogs, a Beagle named Darla, a English Bulldog mix named Bob and an English Bulldog named Budda.  She also has a Persian cat named Kane.

  • Melissa Aaron, CVT

    Certified Veterinary Technician
    Melissa graduated from Wilson College in May of 2012.  In October of 2012 she passed her boards thus becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician.  She has been an animal lover her entire life, and has always owned cats.  One of her loves is spending free time at the horse barn.  When not there, you will often find her spoiling her nephew or relaxing with a good book or movie.

  • Jessica McLane

    Client Relations Specialist
    Jess was born in York County but grew up in Southern Lancaster County until moving to Troy, PA where she graduated from high school. We are happy to welcome Jess back as part of the AHWS team. She returned in May of 2015 from Tractor Supply Co., where she spent four years, two as assistant manager. She has two young children, a son, Nathan Lee and a daughter, Jamie Lynn. Her husband, Troy and her were married August 27th, 2016. In her spare time she enjoys reading, fishing, camping and just spending time with her family.  She has eight ducks, five Mallards, a Pekin, a Muscovy and a Golden Welsh Harlequin, along with a flock of chickens. They also have a dog, Jasper, who is an English/American Bulldog Mix. Her children also have a Lion Head Mix Rabbit named Bugs.

  • Jyl Snyder, CVT

    Certified Veterinary Technician
    Jyl was born and raised in Southern Lancaster County.  She has been a teacher/professor of German for over 20 years.  In 2007 she decided to pursue an additional career in veterinary medicine.  While working as a receptionist at a veterinary practice and as a nursing assistant at an emergency clinic, she studied veterinary technology at Harcum College, from which she graduated in May of 2012.  She passed her boards in August 2012 to become a certified veterinary technician.  Although partial to cats (she has 9 furry ones of her own),  Jyl loves anything that crawls, swims, climbs, slithers, or flies.  In her spare time she likes to travel, paint pottery, play the piano, and hang out with her husband and their furry children.

  • Yasmin Esquivel, CVT

    Certified Veterinary Technician
    Born in Los Angeles, California, Yasmin moved to the Lancaster area when she was 9 years old. She went to the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center for Veterinary Assistant and graduated June 2012. She went on to VTI in Pittsburgh in the fall of 2012 and graduated in March 2014. Yasmin received her Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) License in December 2014. She worked at Keystone Animal Hospital in Oxford for almost 3 years right after college before joining our team. In her free time, she like to travel; especially to Guatemala where her family if from. She also enjoys hiking, exploring new things and spending time with family & pets. Her pets include Stitch, an Australian Labradoodle, Lynx & Milan, two cats and Pig, her guinea pig.

    Born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Sarah graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in 2011 and Lancaster CTC in 2012 as a veterinary assistant.  She graduated from Harcum College in May of 2015 with a veterinary technician degree and plans on taking her boards to become a certified technician.  Sarah worked as a kennel assistant with AHWS for two years prior to becoming a technician.  She lives on a farm in Lancaster and has a dog, two cats, two horses, and chickens.

  • Kylee Shindle

    Certified Veterinary Technician
    Kylee has lived in this area her entire life. She currently resides in Strasburg, PA with her father, mother and sister.  She has graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in June 2016. Kylee also graduated from Lancaster County Career & Technology in June 2016 with an approved Veterinary Assistant Certificate. She has done pet sitting in the past. She participated in an internship with our office from April-June 2016, from there, Kylee became a member of our team, as a Kennel Assistant and Receptionist.  She has since returned to Lancaster County Career & Technology Center in their veterinary technician program.  Her family has two pets; a lab mix named, Leroy Jethro Gibbs and a cat named Romeo. In her spare time, Kylee likes drawing, reading and writing. She also enjoys taking Leroy for walks.

  • Mari Lou Carr

    Client Relations Specialist
    Veterinary Technician

    Mari Lou was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  She always had a love for animals and wanted to become a veterinarian but instead became a veterinary technician.  Mari Lou is married and has four children and five grandchildren.  She has rescued  Zeus, an 13 year old Shepherd mix who had distemper as a puppy.  She also has two adopted dogs, both eight years old; a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Bailey and a Mastiff/Shepherd mix named Annabelle.  Mari Lou has been adopted by four feral cats, Black Jack, Leo, a calico female named Kit Kat and an orange tabby named Frodo.  In her free time, Mari Lou enjoys counted cross stitch, embroidery, camping and spending time with her five grandchildren.

  • Kelsey Wagner

    Client Relations Specialist/Kennel Assistant

    Kelsey was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and has gone to Word of Life Bible Institute, Harcum College, and is grading from Millersville University  this year.  She will graduate with a bachelor’s in psychology and is planning on attending veterinary school within the next few years.    Almost a year ago Kelsey was hired as an Kennel Assistant and now mostly assists clients at the front desk as an Client Relations Specialist.   In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending/volunteering at The Worship Center, and reading.  Her only pet at the moment is a 4 year old orange Tabby feline named “Sophie”

  • Chantel Santora

    Kennel Assistant
    Born in Killeen Texas, Chantel moved to Pennsylvania when she was 5½. She has lived in Southern Lancaster County ever since. She graduated from both Penn Manor High School and Lancaster County Career & Technology Center in 2016. She went to CTC for Veterinary Assistant.   Her pet is a three year old black lab named Sadie. She has played baseball for 7 years & the violin for 3 years.  Chantel welcomed her first child, a son, in January of 2018, she and her boyfriend named him Colton.

  • Nathaniel Young

    Kennel Assistant
    Nathaniel is a welcome and recent addition to our AHWS team.  He was born in Buffalo, New York, but has resided in Willow Street since his parents moved here when he was 6 months old.  He is currently a senior at Lampeter-Strasburg High School where he studies Mandarin Chinese, and is swimming on their varsity team.  He also swims for the L-S Otters during the summer months.  Nathaniel is an Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 56 in Strasburg, and one of the highlights of his scouting career was when he attended Philmont Scout Ranch, a high adventure camp, in Cimmeron, New Mexico in 2015 where he spent 10 days backpacking in the mountains with members of his troop.  The Buffalo Bills are his favorite sports team win or lose (usually lose), and he looks for any opportunity to attend their games.  Upon completing high school  this year, he plans to attend D'Youville college, located in upstate New York and is not too far from where the Buffalo Bills play.  He plans to major in international business.  To Nathaniel, family and pets are most important, and he makes a point of spending as much time as possible with them.
